Moment Health was founded by Dr. Dawn Bazarko, a driving force behind cultivating mindfulness practices in the workplace. A long-term meditator, Dr. Bazarko has studied with renowned leaders in the mindfulness industry, including Jon Kabat Zinn, Rebecca Bradshaw, Diana Winston, Marvin Belzer, and many others.

bazarko_dawn_headshotOver the past five years, Dr. Bazarko has developed mindfulness meditation and mindfulness stress reduction programs for companies and their employees. Programs include in-person, telephonic, and drop-in session formats.Dr. Bazarko’s mindfulness research with nurses was published in 2013 in the “Journal of Workplace Behavioral Health.” She is increasingly seen as an expert in the science of mindfulness and methods of bringing mindfulness practices into corporate environments and health care.

Dr. Bazarko also serves as the senior vice president of UnitedHealth Group’s Center for Nursing Advancement, which impacts more than 24,000 company nurses. Passionate about nursing leadership and modernizing nursing education, Dr. Bazarko partnered with the University of St. Thomas to launch the Nurse Leader Executive Program. She serves as adjunct faculty at the University of St. Thomas and is the nursing industry lead for the Nurse Leadership Executive Program.

Dr. Bazarko is a registered nurse and holds a master’s in public health, specializing in environmental and occupational health, and a doctor of nursing practice, both from the University of Minnesota. She earned her certification as a mindfulness facilitator from the University of California, Los Angeles.

The Institute for Mindfulness

The Institute for Mindfulness in Health Care at UnitedHealth Group is a Center of Excellence on mindfulness. The Institute was developed to bring uniformity and excellence to all UnitedHealth Group internal and external mindfulness initiatives.

The Institute focuses on developing gold standards in mindfulness-based corporate programs. It also seeks to document and report on the impact of corporate mindfulness programs in the marketplace.
